The History of the camping site Mörfelden
In the early 1930s Richard Arndt moved with his wife Martha from Mörfelden on the grounds of today's camping site. He had inherited fields and meadow land from his father.
In 1935 Richard Arndt founded his Nursey, which he headed until his retirement in 1982. He became known primarily for his water lily breeding, which he cultivated also at Bornbruchsee.
In 1937/38, the first house was built in the grounds of the campsite. It still exists today behind the restaurant Tommasi. Later, two other houses and the present restaurant were built. Because of the newly acquired mobility after the war, the questions piled up to cooling water, rest areas and meadows to stay in the tent. Arndt's family used the gap in the market and created in 1953 the Camping site Arndt in Mörfelden. A snack bar was added a short time later to pamper the campers. In order to satisfy the necessary capacity for more and more campers, the snack bar was extended and reached in the early 60s the size of today's restaurant Tommasi. In the following years more fields were bought to enlarge the camping site.
In 1972 the area of camping site II (a separate space on the opposite side of the street, behind the parking lot) was leased by annual lease, which was originally thought to use as a tent area or a short break camping site only. Until the late 70's new buildings were built for the Sanitary Facilities on both sites. From 1985, the camp has existed in its present size.
1982 Mrs Martha Arndt passed away.
In 1983 Adrian Schrötter officially enters the family business at the camping site and has also acquired the nursery of his grandfather.
1989 Transfer of the camping site to Matthias and Adrian Schrötter.
